However, I cut myself off from even walking into VS because of my somewhat -okay, very- addictive personality, especially when it comes to shopping. Alas, nothing can stop me from a semi-annual sale at VS, so into the abyss I gloriously entered. I actually did a good job and only picked up three beauty products, reviews for the other two will be posted shortly. I chose this product because I considered buying it a year ago but never did, and because it looked pretty when I swatched it on my hand. What can I say, I’m a sucker for shimmery pink things. Despite the overreaching product name, this highlighter pen is really just that, a highlighter. I placed it under my eyes and found it to be pretty average. In fact, I prefer my Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer (is that the correct name?), which combines concealer and brightener. However, on my browbone and along my cheekbone it looks quite nice. Here’s the thing, nearly all highlighters look quite nice. Isn’t that the point? I get the same shimmery pink loveliness from my my MAC MSF in Blonde and I prefer a powder anyway. Yes, the MSF is more expensive, but my point is that this brightener/highlighter is the same as all the others, don’t expect any miracles. I would recommend this product to anyone who does not already own something like it and who enjoys this type of formulation and application, creamy and in a brush-tip pen. I would not repurchase this item (I purchased this item at Victoria’s Secret on sale for $7. It is regularly $14.)

My thoughts on MACs Studio Sculpt foundation in NC40: I have...

My thoughts on MACs Studio Sculpt foundation in NC40: I have never been attracted much to a MAC counter. I love Sephora and most often buy my makeup there or at drugstores. However, I decided to give it a go because every YouTube “guru” I watch bring up MAC products pretty often. I stopped by the counter and the woman there recommended the Studio Sculpt foundation to me along with the Studio Fix powder. I had high hopes. They were not met. I have very oily skin and the first day I used this foundation my face was more oily than I have EVER seen it. The next time, I used it with the same primer, concealer, and powder that I always use and swear by to be sure that it was the foundation that was making my face slide off, and it happened again. I have nothing good to say about it. It made my skin look awful. After a week, I returned it and the powder to the MAC counter. A different woman was at the counter and seemed genuinely surprised that I was recommended the Studio Sculpt. I would not recommend this product to anyone with even the slightest oil problem. I would never purchase this product again. (I purchased this product at Belk for $24.50)

My thoughts on Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs in Tan Glow: I...

My thoughts on Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs in Tan Glow: I was expecting to hate it. I’m a compulsive shopper, so I’ll buy almost anything as long as it’s returnable. Today, I spent a small fortune on random goodies from Walgreens. I only bought this product because I saw it in a video on YouTube by Beautycrush (look her up, she’s awesome and I love her accent). I always thought that this spray was for older people or really pale people, and as I am a 24 year old tan person, I figured it was useless to me. I was wrong. I put it on one leg and compared it to the other and was shocked by the difference. It makes my skin look perfectly smooth and even. I bruise very easily and am very clumsy, a combination that results in my legs perpetually looking like I took a tumble down a flight of stairs. It is very easy to use. I just spray a bit into my hands and rub it into my legs. I imagine it works much in the same way as spray tanner, but I’ve never used it so I could be wrong. The instructions say to use it in this way and I’m assuming that spraying it straight onto the legs will result in a more streaky finish. I still want to try it though. What can I say, I’m a rebel. I would definitely repurchase this product. I would recommend it to anyone. (I purchased this product at Walgreens or $13.99)

My thoughts on Almay’s Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover...

My thoughts on Almay’s Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover Pads: Get in your car and go buy these now! I was pretty confident when I bought these that they would do what they were supposed to: remove my eye makeup. I had no idea that I would be able to glide the pad so easily across my eyelid. I’m used to using eye makeup remover from a bottle and soaking a cotton ball in it. Even then, I have to really work to get everything off of my eyes. On the other hand, these pads are unbelievably gentle. I have very oily skin, so I considered buying the oil-free version. I decided on the moisturizing pads because it’s more important to me to have supple, healthy skin than completely oil-free skin. I am beyond pleased with my purchase. The container comes with 80 pads and I used one pad for both of my eyes. This is impressive considering I wear black liquid eyeliner 5 days a week! I would repurchase this again and again and again. I would recommend this to every single person I know. (I purchased these for $5.99 at CVS)

My thoughts on L’Oreal 24 Hour Infallible Eye Shadow in...

My thoughts on L’Oreal 24 Hour Infallible Eye Shadow in Perpetual Purple: Meh. Yeah, I said it, and I’ll say it again: Meh. I was expecting big things. I was disappointed. I’ve been looking for the perfect purple shadow and was really excited to find a purple in L’Oreal’s new line of pigments. They almost look like cream shadows, but they’re loose powders that are tightly packed into a small jar. It comes with a small press that you push into the shadow to keep it packed like a regular eye shadow. The problem I have with the product is not so much the formula, but the color. It’s not all that purple. I am not afraid of color, and it looks like they toned the color down for the people that are. I’ve only worn it for about 3 hours and so far there’s no creasing. However, that’s not saying much considering that I often wear my makeup for over 12 hours. While there’s no creasing, the finish is so metallic that it almost seems greasy. There was nothing about the formula that impressed me any more than a traditional eye shadow. I would not repurchase this item. I do not recommend this product to anyone. (I purchased this at CVS for $7.99)

My thoughts on Covergirl Lip Perfection lipstick in Spellbound...

My thoughts on Covergirl Lip Perfection lipstick in Spellbound and Fairytale: I absolutely love the formula. I have 5 of these lipsticks all together. They are long-wearing and even leave your lips with a stain when they rub off. In fact, trying on several colors is difficult because each color leaves a deep stain that will not come off with a tissue or lip scrub! They are gel-based and are very well pigmented. Unfortunately, while the formula is amazing, these two colors are not my favorite. The bottom color, Fairytale, reminds me of the tacky colors that come in little palettes they sell to little girls for dress-up. I LOVE a bright lip, but the color is simply unattractive. The too shade, Spellbound, is much better. It is a true hot pink. The reason I don’t live it is that I have this formula in the color Divine, a hot pink with a purple base. The shades are different, but I much prefer Divine to Spellbound. I would recommend these lipsticks to anyone, just not in the color Fairytale (I honestly can’t think of what skin tone the color would compliment.) I would repurchase this lipstick again in other colors. (I purchased these lipsticks at CVS for 7.99 each. They are at Wal-Mart for $5.49 and at Publix for $5.99)

My thoughts on NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp:...

My thoughts on NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp: “It’s not a lipstick, nor is it gloss. It’s like nothing you’ve experienced before. It’s lipstick cream that goes on silky but looks soft matte.” This is what the packaging says about the formula, and it’s a bit misleading. The product starts as a thin cream. I wouldn’t exactly call it silky. I would never consider it a gloss because there’s nothing glossy about it. But it is somewhat like a lipstick. After application it feels rather odd when sliding my lips together. It doesn’t feel like a lipstick, gloss, or cream. It smells like a cupcake, and I love cupcakes. The problem I have is with the formula after it dries. Once it dries it gets into every little crevice and I’m not sure I like that. The top pigmented layer dries off and you’re left with more of a stain on your lips. I do like the color, it’s very wearable. I’m still on the fence about whether I would repurchase this item. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who has very thin or chapped lips However, I would recommend that people like me who love to try new makeup take a chance with this one. (I purchased this item at Ulta for approximately $5)

My thoughts on Milani lipstick in Berry Rich: I’ve only...

My thoughts on Milani lipstick in Berry Rich: I’ve only worn this lipstick once, and I don’t know why! I just put it on my lips and it is amazing! The color is ridiculously saturated and the formula is creamy. I feel like I’m wearing a moisturizing lip balm. The only problem I can see is that it looks feather-prone. Thank goodness for E.L.F.’s Lip Lock Pencil! I will probably wear this lipstick again in the next few days when I’m not just at home sitting at my makeup table. I would also like to buy the same formula in different colors, maybe a pink and a nude. One last thing, it smells like grape juice in the best way possible. I would repurchase this item. (This lipstick was purchased by my mother, however, Milani is sold at CVS and this product runs for $6-7.)

My thoughts on Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing Lip Color in Rouge:...

My thoughts on Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing Lip Color in Rouge: The formula is hard to describe. It is a cream lipstick that begins to dry shortly after application. It doesn’t ever get completely dry, just dryer than it is out of the bottle. I like that is has a sort of sheen because of its creaminess. The color is sophisticated, deep without being overpowering. It’s a mix between a berry and a wine color. I wouldn’t recommend the color to teens because it might be a tad aging, but I would recommend the product itself to anyone. I would repurchase this item. (I purchased this item for $10 as part of Sephora’s Black Friday online deal and it came with an all-over face color and brush. It now sells for $16 at Sephora.)

My thoughts on Revlon Colorburst lip gloss in Strawberry and Hot...

My thoughts on Revlon Colorburst lip gloss in Strawberry and Hot Pink: I don’t wear lip gloss often, but when I do I like it to be pigmented. These glosses are certainly pigmented. I like Strawberry better than Hot Pink only because hot Pink is too frosty. They are creamy, not sticky. You can press your lips together without having to pry them apart. I don’t love the fact that I can feel the glitter in them. It’s not so annoying that it keeps me from wearing them. Overall, I really like these glosses. I would repurchase these items again. This picture makes my hand look so odd, ignore that. 2. I love this lipstick, I just can’t figure out if I love it on my lips. It is a gorgeous color! However, applied it appears a bit lighter than it looks in the picture. I got it about two months ago and have been wearing it about once a week, so I guess that says something. Regardless of my qualms, I do recommend this lipstick. The formula really is lustrous (good job, advertisers!) and it is a classic pink that never goes out of style. I would repurchase this product again. It is one of the only pencil products that I will purchase because I generally hate to use products you have to sharpen. I can’t explain this preference, I just hate to use a sharpener! This is the perfect red for me, and I’ve tried lots of reds. I don’t wear it as often as I’d like, but when I stumble upon it in my lipstick drawer I usually end up wearing for days at a time. I would DEFINITELY repurchase this item! A bit stickier than I would like, but not unbearably so. I am embarrassed to admit that I bought this gloss because Kim Kardashian was raving about how great it is and said that she wears it almost every day. I had seen pictures of her with pale pink lips and wanted to see if the color would work for me because we have somewhat similar skin tones. Unfortunately, the color makes me look dead. I’ve tried layering it, but it is too pale for me. I would only recommend it to girls with skin tones exactly like or lighter than Kim Kardashian. I would not repurchase this.
